Mladen Stojanović Park
Banja Luka's largest city park
Mladen Stojanović Park is the largest city park in Banja Luka, a green oasis in the Rosulje neighbourhood that draws walkers, athletes and families throughout the year.
The park lies in the central part of the city, bordered by Dr Mladena Stojanovića Street, Olimpijskih pobjednika Street and the Boulevard of the Serbian Army. It covers about 13.6 hectares, roughly 10 of them green space, with broad lawns and well-kept paths for walking and running.
Although it now carries the name of a national hero, the park traces its origins to the Austro-Hungarian period in the early 20th century.
Name and history
The park is named after Dr Mladen Stojanović (1896–1942), a physician, humanist and People's Hero of Yugoslavia. Born in Prijedor, he studied medicine in Zagreb and Vienna and, as a doctor, helped everyone regardless of whether they could pay. He was one of the organisers of the 1941 uprising on Mount Kozara and was killed on 2 April 1942. The park holds his bust along with monuments to other national heroes.

One of the park's newer landmarks is a replica of the famous fountain that once stood in Petar Kočić Park and appeared on almost every postcard of old Banja Luka.

Sport and recreation
The park is a favourite of Banja Luka's recreational and professional athletes alike. It has the tennis courts of Tennis Club „Mladost”, a running track, basketball and futsal courts, outdoor exercise equipment, and the largest children's playground in Republika Srpska, built in 2023. The tennis courts host international tournaments, including ATP events.
